WP Plugins: Google Analytics

You can’t be a serious marketer if you don’t track the traffic that comes into your web site. Every piece of info will help you improve traffic and conversions… And this plugin makes it easy for you to insert your Analytics code and track custom variables as well.

Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, you have to set which Analytics profile to track:

Then you need to authenticate your account with Google Analytics and choose your other settings. You can decide whether you want the Analytics code to be inserted automatically into the header (recommended, unless you’re an advanced user).

You can also track outbound clicks and downloads, plus some other advanced functions if you wish. The advanced functions allow you to track Google Adsense and other custom variables like. Here are some of the custom options:

When you log into Google Analytics, you’ll see the usual stats and if you chose the Advanced Custom Variables, you’ll see them under “Visitors -> Custom Variables”. Now you’re all set to start tracking your site. No need to manually insert codes and you’re ready to go!

$1997 RANT!…

With so much hype around, I almost forgot how I use to buy one
GURU info product after the other, thinking that THIS IS IT, and that
I cannot miss this new super expensive product otherwise I’ll be
loosing money!…

Truth is, some of those info products were actually very good, but
they also were USELESS for me…

I mean, 15 month ago I was not making even one sale online. Neither
14 months ago, neither 13 months ago… You get the picture…

I was STUDYING!… At least this was what I was telling myself

What a waste! Now that I “made it”, I can admit how I use to fall asleep
on my keyboard while I was watching one video after the other, one
webinar after the other…

All this was from April till December 2009.

Things were getting out of hand, with $15,000 overdraft on my credit
card, and all those nights spent sleeping on my keyboard…

I had to take action. A simple plan of action, a weekly to do list, some
clear targets and deadlines…

Focus. Stick to the plan. And no more new products to buy unless I was
using money cashed in my Paypal account!…

I never looked back since then…

Where Should I Start From?

I always encouraged subscribers to my newsletter to ask me any
question that cross their mind, related to the Internet Marketing topic,
and one of the most asked question sounds like that:

“Where do I START? How to make money online when I’m just beginning?”

A lot of people are facing this issue. The major complaint is that
you are exposed on a daily base to so many choices, business
models, magic solutions, etc, that you kind of “shut down”,
buying one product after another but never going through them,
or just ignoring them, sitting on the fence, waiting for something
more convincing. Here is the most eloquent message that kind of
express this frustration:

“I can’t seem to get through all of the BS to focus on what to do!”

Do you relate to the above message?…

I wish I could tell you that I was so smart and that I understood
what to do from day one…

But the truth is that for almost 8 months I was buying one product
after another, some for $27 and other outrageously expensive, but
NEVER took action.

It was incredible, a kind of addiction, looking for the next shiny object…

Until one day, when I get a phone call from my banker notifying
me that I am minus $15,000 on my credit card “just from internet
transactions”!

That was a wake up call for me!

I said to myself: “Wait a minute! I was supposed to make money
here, not just spend it!”

I mean, I really do believe in investing in self education, and I am
always looking to learn more stuff, but this was getting “sick”…

I felt I had two options at this stage: Crack the code or quit trying
to make money online…

I took a few days off and spent some time with my family. Taking
a few days off included “off the screen of any computer”.

Have a break from your computer screen! You should try it

That’s when suddenly it all came clear for me… I realized that
absolutely all the online marketers delivered their messages through
email, and not through some super ninja technique… You may say,
“DUH!!!”… But really, this simple truth made THE difference.

Three weeks later I did my first sale online…

So, where to begin from? Begin with the LIST.

Once you identify what target niche you want to address, you should
invest time, sweat and money on your list. Anything you do online at
this first stage should have this in mind.

Welcome to the amazing world of Internet Marketing!

If you are new to this field, on the fence, still in between the thought
that all Internet Marketing may be a scam or understand the infinite
possibilities that it can offer, then this is for you.

Also, if you are somewhere in “the middle”, making a few hundreds
or a few thousands here and there, but still not ready to take the plunge
and quit your day job, then this is for you too.

I am going to share with you the internet entrepreneurship journey,
with tips, ideas, resources and step by step action plans. I’ll also share
with you what is working for me and what is not…

But this is not going to be JUST Internet Marketing “How To Make
Money” thing, because actually, making money is not everything…

Sorry if I am shocking you here… Making money is part of the story,
one of the results of undertaking the internet marketing path, but very
few succeed if they just obsess about it.

So… Are you ready? Are you ready to work, play, explore?

Are you ready to fail, succeed, close down some projects and develop
others?

This is part of the process.
